What is supplemental insurance?
A great way to fill in the gaps with your medical insurance or save money on premium is to look at supplemental insurance. Most of us have heard about supplemental insurance, Aflac commercials are everywhere, without really knowing what it is. My job is to explain it all to you.
Supplemental insurance does exactly what it sounds like, it supplements your current coverage in various situations. Supplemental polices typically focus on one specific area for example cancer or accident coverage. For a relatively low monthly premium these plans pay the policyholder benefits when specific covered events occur. Adding a supplemental policy to your coverage allows you to choose a health plan with a higher deductible and lower premium because you have protection for instances when the whole deductible might have to be paid up front.
